The perfect sauce for any barbecue – slather it on sausages and burgers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
1 small onion, chopped
\n3 cloves garlic, crushed
\nolive oil
\n1 red chilli, finely chopped
\n1 tsp fennel seeds, crushed
\n55g\/2oz dark brown sugar
\n50ml\/1\u00befl oz dark soy sauce
\n300ml\/10fl oz tomato ketchup
\nsalt and pepper<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Fry the onion and garlic in olive oil with the chilli, fennel seeds and sugar.<\/p>\n
Add the soy sauce and ketchup and season with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n
Bring to the boil and simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavours.<\/p>\n
Use as a dip or to coat spare ribs, chicken or sausages on your next barbecue!<\/p>\n
