50g plain flour
\n25g butter or margarine
\n25g caster sugar
\nBeaten egg to mix
\n50g icing sugar, sifted
\n1 – 2 teaspoons warm water
\nSelection of food colourings<\/p>\n
Chocolate sugar strands
\nHundreds & thousands
\nJelly sweets
\nSilver balls
\nSugar flowers<\/p>\n

Preheat the oven to 180\u00b0C, 350\u00b0F, gas mark 4.<\/p>\n
Sift the flour into a bowl and rub in the fat until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the caster sugar and enough beaten egg to mix to a firm dough.<\/p>\n
Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. Roll out thinly and cut into shapes using a small fluted cutter, or diamond, star, heart or animal shaped cutters.<\/p>\n
Place on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden. Cool on the baking sheet.<\/p>\n
Place the icing sugar in a mixing bowl and gradually add the water until the icing coats the back of a spoon thickly. Divide the icing into portions and colour each as desired.<\/p>\n
Spoon a little icing onto each biscuit, spread almost to the edges and decorate as desired.<\/p>\n
