These soft aromatic scones are great served with soup and salads.<\/p>\n

\nPreparation time: 30 Minutes
\nCooking time: 10 Minutes<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/h4>\n125g self-raising flour
\n1 teaspoon baking powder
\na pinch of salt
\n125g granary flour
\n50g butter, plus extra for greasing<\/p>\n
2 teaspoons chopped thyme or a teaspoon dried thyme
\n2 tablespoons milk
\n1 medium size egg, beaten<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Preheat the oven to 220\u00b0C, 425\u00b0F, gas mark 7.<\/p>\n
Sift the self-raising flour with the baking powder and salt. Mix in the granary flour.<\/p>\n
Rub the butter into the flours and stir in the thyme. Add the milk and egg to make a soft dough.<\/p>\n
Roll out to 1cm thick and cut into rounds. Place on a well greased baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.<\/p>\n
Cool a little and serve warm, heaped in a basket with sprigs of flowering thyme if you like.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
