\"aldiThe eponymous area is centred on the village of Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape in the Rh\u00f4ne wine region in south-eastern France. It is one of the most celebrated appellations from the southern part of the Rh\u00f4ne Valley, and prized vineyards are located around Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape and in the surrounding villages.<\/p>\n

Very reasonable price<\/h4>\n

Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape can be either red or white wine, but the majority of the wines produced are red and they are the most famous, and indeed the most expensive \u2026 that is until ALDI gave shoppers the chance to try this renowned wine at a very reasonable price of less than \u00a317.<\/p>\n

Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape is a classic wine made from a blend of jammy Grenache, Syrah for colour and a hint of spice, and Mourv\u00e8dre grapes which add the characteristic structure to the wine. There are 18 permitted appellation grape varieties, and this bottle takes advantage of 13 of them as the name suggests.<\/p>\n

To enjoy the full array of Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape Cuv\u00e9e 13 characteristics it is best to decant the wine a couple of hours before drinking. A perfect wine for a festive or celebratory meal. Pour it to accompany the main course or with a cheese board at the end of the evening.<\/p>\n

Tasting notes:<\/h4>\n

Appearance: clear
\nColour: deep red
\nNose: full and aromatic
\nPalate: full and well-rounded. Red fruits, balanced tannins and light spice with a little leather and herbs on the finish
\nFinish: long and pleasing<\/p>\n

Serve at 16\u00b0C with duck or venison as a great alternative to the usual turkey at Christmas.<\/p>\n
